![]() Tuesday, June 26, 2007So the weekend was good; it always is when you've had a weight lifted off your shoulders :) Although found out that a good guy friend of mine didn't do well on 2 of his papers, which is a shame.. He was one of the last people I'd have expected to fail too...Oh well, good luck to him, I'm sure we're allowed to fail two papers, and as long as he does well in his projects he'll be just fine I'm sure. One funny incident; my dad has a friend who works in this place that's got a mommy cat and her 3 kittens living there, and my dad has been telling me about them for a while now. So on Saturday I decided to pay these much talked about kitties a visit, and my dad was right, they were *very* cute. They came running up to the car as soon as we pulled up, even though we were strangers , so we guessed they were hungry as it was the weekend and noone'd be arounf to feed them scraps. So we gave them some food we'd just bought from the tamu. They gobbled it up in seconds!! My dad isn't much of a cat/animal lover but somehow these kitties have clawed their way into his heart cause after we pulled out of the place, he turned to my mom and was like "Cana? Shall we?" My mom said ok, and off we went to Supasave nearby to get them some catfood to last them through the weekend! Lol! That's the last thing I'd have expected from my dad, he used to get mad when I brought a cat into the house to play with for a couple of minutes hehe...Getting soft in his old age, I reckon :) It was cute though to go back and give these cats some proper cat food (Whiskas, you know!) and fill up their containers with water. I wanted to just adopt the kittens but my dad said karang the mom mencari..Then I said well just adopt all four, but he refused...Guess he's not all that into them lol! So the reason for yesterday's downer of a post? P isn't coming home after all...They told him that he wasn't eligible for a ticket, and said that he could buy his own and they'd reimburse him, but where exactly is a student supposed to come up with that much cash in that space of time? I was/am so disappointed, I had gotten used to the idea that I wouldn't be seeing him for 3 months before I came back, but when he said that he was (BECAUSE when he called up the teacher on the day he got his results, the guy told him that, yes, he'd definitely be ok to go back), I was so excited, and started planning activities, movies, restaurants, you name it, I probably thought of it. And the summer seemed bearable again. So when he told me that he couldn't come back, it all came crashing down and I got so upset, I didn't even want to speak to him. Not his fault, I know, but at the time I just didn't want to hear it that I wouldn't be seeing him this weekend, or anytime soon. Sigh... So Neez, that would be why I out up that post yesterday heh :) I'm feeling better now, life goes on. It's another 8 weeks anyways and if the past 3 are anything to go by, I'm sure they're going to fly by! (Which isn't great for my project which seems to slowly be grinding to a halt...) The rain is lashing it down now, I'm glad I opted out of this grad bbq thing they're having in Panaga heheh... Til next time! xoxoxoxo Monday, June 25, 2007Disappointed, depressed , disheartened. And how was *your* day? Friday, June 22, 2007Ok, Blogger told me the exclaimation mark is not allowed. Why, I'm not sure...So I shall now replace with the mark with an esterisk. So please pretend you're looking at exclaimation points ok? :P And please note, due to the nature of the post below, there are a lot of exclamati....uh...asterisks in use :PI passed!!!! Alhamdulilah... I got my results about half an hour ago. I knew they were coming out today, but I just didn't know when... I've been on edge for a few days now and I did practically no work today because I kept going online to check my emails even though I knew we're 7 hours ahead of the Uk and who'd be awake at 12 -9 am? :P But I couldn't help myself, every few hours (hourly*) I checked, then got disappointed, and just a bit more scared. Even stayed back in the office til 5pm (10am Uk) just in case they'd send it then!! Eventually got the email when I got home, after driving around getting some groceries and going to the tamu for some dinner. Sat down, saw the email, downloaded the letter and screamed for joy! My dad was watching telly and ran over, my mom was in the toilet and she ran out lol! Whew... such a huge huge weight off my shoulders, and now I should be free to concentrate on my project. I'm so happy; I was so sure I failed at least one of the papers. Alhamdulilah...That's 75% of my course done now, 25% to go. ALSO! P finished his exams a couple of days ago and he got his results on the same day. He's made it through as well; I knew he could do it, all that stress, and crankiness, and frustration, I'm sure it was all worth it when he saw his name on the pass list. My baby is now fully qualified to go out and save lives :) So proud of him, I cried when he told me the news the next morning. I was that happy for him lol! I didn't cry when i got my own though, weird? And to top it off... P's coming home before graduation! :) :) Insyallah, if he manages to get tickets on time, he should be back next weekend yay! Oh happy days! Have a great weekend everyone!! Lots of love xoxoxox /edit - Nah mau tia.... Cerewet also this thing ah... Oh well I've left the previous comment up so I can remind myself that Blogger is a silly bunny sometimes :) Sunday, June 17, 20071 week down, 10 to go. The week's gone by quickly actually; although it seems to drag by when I'm in the office trying to read up on the background of my project. Add the fact that none of my friends're around (bar my housemate); it get pretty damn boring in there. The rest of my year and my seniors are either on holiday or offshore. This should mean that I'll be able to devote all my attention to my project, but I've never been the one with a long attention span :P I've got some reading to do before tomorrow too; almost like being back in uni again heh. About variograms and variance and the sort, anyone done any stats before??Was planning to catch a film yesterday; but got caught up shopping and in the end I wasn't too keen on watching any of the movies out. Well I am, but not at the same time.. Make sense? Lol. A's arriving today so hopefully will see him soon; he's passed his medical exams and is now Dr A, very very proud of him :) Speaking of shopping I went on a bit of a spree yesterday; got myself some books (Thanks Dad :D!), 2 pasang kain raya, and 4(!!) pairs of shoes from Vincci lol. Vincci has some very very nice stock in, or is it just because I haven't been there is ages? Anyways, I originally liked 6 pairs, but thought that was a bit excessive, no? It was hard to choose 4 out of 6 lemme tell ya! lol..The good thing is, they sell styles that are very similar to what you can get in UK, it may even be better than what's on offer in the UK, and at a fraction of the price! Got a wash and dry at the Inspiration Alan salon in the mall too; I'd heard so much hype about the place so wanted to check it out. The woman washing my hair was amazing, I got such a good head and shoulder massage, plus I get soft clean hair after :D The only downside was when I told her I wanted my hair dried wavy instead of straight; she clearly had no idea what to do, and on a number of occasions my hair got tangled up in the roundhair brush. Eventually a more experience hairdresser come over to help; and she proceeded to tutor this girl on how to do it properly. Was not impressed with that part of the service. If she didn't know how to do it, she should have mentioned it to me or her colleagues instead of making a complete tangle of my hair in the first place =/ Anyways it all went well and I left feeling like a million dollars heheh. I *do* love my hair curly, but I don't know if I'm willing to take the plunge and get a perm, what if I hate it after a week??? Since i got back and started on boxsets I've been hooked on House. Never really paid the show much attention before this, I thought grey's was better. But Season 3 has got me completely hooked; I've had House marathons for the past couple of nights after work. Problem is, they only have the first 12 episodes out in stores; and the next 12 hasn't been released yet. So to satisfy my House cravings I've bought Season 2 and am now working my way steadily through that lol. I love all the characters, and I do wish House and Cuddy would get together, just because they're so funny always sniping at each other. Hmmm House or Geostats?? Decisions, decisions... Here's hoping for good week ahead for us all! xoxoxo Saturday, June 09, 2007So went out and spent a fortune yesterday on toiletries, dvds and junk food. Who knew that shampoo, conditioner, moisturiser and a few other bits and bobs could total up to $50?? I am now well prepared for any eventuality, I am stocked to the gills with my favourite junk and I have Dvds to keep me entertained for many a day. Well.. maybe a month lol! Waiting for the parentals to be ready and then I'm off to Dynasty for some long awaited dimsum :) Maybe a film too if I can be bothered...I'm feeling better about being back although I get very easily irritated with people around me. It comes from having lived on my own for the best part of 4 years now without having my actions questioned. It just makes me feel a bit trapped being in my house again. I haven't seen anyone yet, well I haven't made plans anyways; I'm currently feeling really quite unsociable. I had a discussion with a friend and realised that we haven't had a proper break since the Christmas break last year! What with classes, then the Barrel Awards, then the field trip, then exams, and now on to my project it's just been one lonnnng term. hence me feeling lazy and quite content to just sit and vegetate. Will have to get off my bum from Monday on though, starting again in my isolated office, same as last year. Gah. Speaking of which, I ended up not having to go into the office on Friday anyways which annoyed me because I could've come back during the weekend instead of rushing things. I wonder if there are any dance/aerobics classes I can take. Although after typing that I just realised that I don't have anything with me, no dance shoes, hip scarves, even trainers for exercise, nothing! Gah. That explains why I had 4 spare kilos left in my luggage. Have a good weekend y'all! xoxoxox Thursday, June 07, 2007So I'm home. Whoop de doo. Flight was uneventful, it wasn't that full so thanks to my nice seatmate who moved to a different row, I got two seats to myself for maximum cuddling up/sleeping space. There were a few Bruneians on the flight, a couple of them I actually knew. My seatmate was the sweetest though, he asked the stewardess for more of those yummy peanuts they give out and piled me high with pillows so I'd be as comfortable as possible during the flight :) Watched Shooter and Bridge to Terabithia on the flight; both very good films. Bridge was actually sadder than I thought it would be and made me cry (or maybe that was due to other reasons, I'm not sure). Was a good girl and only brought back two bags, and stayed well within my luggage weight limit. Lol for a girl that used to bring back her whole wardrobe home every summer, just in case, I'm pretty proud of myself *beams*I don't know, I'm in that transition stage I always go through whenever I go home; where I don't know what to do with myself for the whole summer and I'd get really really bored and grumpy because I would wish more than anything that I was back in the UK. Back then though, most of my friends would be home with me but this year, my closest friends are all back in the UK and I'm feeling really lonely here. Not to mention P won't be coming home this summer. Sigh. I wish I had more time to spend with P before I came home, but with me just finishing my exams and him just starting his, there was such a clash of schedule and we couldn't really find the time to just hang out and do fun things. As opposed to studying in opposite corners of the house and seeing each other only during mealtimes. Saying goodbye this summer wasn't as bad as last summer when I was literally crying everyday when he went home for summer; but hey, it's only my first 5 hours home who knows what the summer will be like. But I miss him already. So much that it hurts. Lol even listening to Il Divo or the ballads channel on the plane made me well up. Useless I know heh. 11 weeks and counting. Someone suggest something to do to keep me busy! Other than work that is. Tomorrow I will be off on a boxset buying mission from my favourite dvd shop I think. xoxoxox Monday, June 04, 2007Sunday, June 03, 2007This is my last weekend in the Uk this summer, as I am flying back on Wednesday! As happy as I am that I'm going to see my family and friends at home after 9 months, part of me really really wishes I could just stay here for the summer and do my project here. But no go, so, off into blue skies I go in 3 days. Can anyone guess my main reason for not wanting to leave yet? I've had so much fun this year and I feel I've made better friends on my course than I did in the last 3 years at Leeds (barring a few people obviously), and most of them are in London/Aberdeen for summer. Going to feel so left out when they talk about their summer, and a few are even organising weekend trips to Norway and Scotland to visit the others there.Every summer I surprise my grandparents when I come back; I usually tell them that I won't be home til July or August and then turn up at home in June :) They fall for it everytime, but I do wonder whether they start to suspect that I might come home around this time of the year and just pretend to be surprised? Lol! It's so silly, as we come into our driveway I have to lie flat in the backseat of the car so that my grandmother won't spot us from the verandah. So undignified hehe... So exams were hmm... let's just say they could go either way. Actually very worried about them but I guess there's nothing I can do now. Everyone wish me luck for results please! On a happier note, my birthday was a blast! We hit this place in Covent Garden called the Roadhouse and it just played all the music I loved. There was also a band playing called Magic Taxi who were really good! So much so that one of my friends wanted to go back there to catch their performance yesterday lol. All in all a very good night, and a great birthday. War and Nana, thank you very much for your greetings :) I need to do some shopping today; I haven't gotten any new shoes this year at all! And I really want a pair of wedges and flats. Think I will hit Soton's malls today :) Speaking of Soton, what should've been a 90 minute journey from London to Southampton yesterday took me 4 hours! Bloody weekend services. I might as well have taken the train from Leeds, with the amount of time it took me! Thank goodness I had lots of reading material with me :P Off to get ready now, it's been such a nice few days here, let's hope the weather stays like this til I leave! :) Much love xoxoxoxo |
