![]() Tuesday, November 28, 2006Hello Bytch (Wytch) Farm, Goodbye Life! (For the next 3 weeks, including weekends)Will be living in the uni trying to finish off this massive project from now on. I can foresee my weight ballooning too cause where there's work, there's an overeating me =P Love, me xoxoxox Friday, November 24, 2006*sigh*I'm feeling quite...blah today. I miss Leeds, I miss my friends and I miss the granbies =( Have a good weekend, all. Monday, November 20, 2006Back at uni after a relaxing weekend =) Friday was spent CSI-ing (3 back to back episodes baybee!) Saturday I woke up late, lazed, watched Snakes on a Plane (courtesy of Mom) and did some last minute shopping for my coursemate's party later that night. N texted saying she was in London but I was pressed for time and couldn't meet up with her. sorry hun, I wish we could've met up, but I was *really* rushing that day! Next time yes?Went to C's halls before setting off for Salsa! (yes with the exclaimation mark) in Leicester Square and C treated us to a sneak preview of her dancing abilities. All I can say is, my god! To be Venezuelan and be able to move like that girl! Lol! Her and her dance partner (her cousin, all the way from Oslo) definitely know their stuff. The club was packed to the brim with couples twirling and spinning across the dance flood like a Strictly Come Dancing audition, the latin version! I didn't take as many photos as I usually would because my (new!) camera was knocked out of my hands to the ground. I was not impressed. The club played a mix of salsa and current hits which was good because the salsa thing? I'm not very good at. P, however, loved it *so* much he's insisting we go for classes every weekend now. Lol bless him..Looks like weekly visits to Salsa! are in order from now on. Sunday was so relaxed I was almost comatose lol. Managed to haul my ass out of bed to watch Casino Royale though, the first Bond movie I've seen, ever! Verdict? It dragged in some places, and I caught myself looking at my watch a couple of times. Also, I have nothing to compare the film too, but overall it was really quite enjoyable. I had doubts about the new Bond because I thought Pierce Brosnan embodied Bond quite nicely. I wasn't sure about a blonde, blue-eyed Bond. But 3 minutes into the film and I was hooked! There's just something about that smouldering gaze that he has (and uses very often throughout the movie) that definitely got to me. Lol! From the trailers before the film, there're some great new films coming out soon; so far I want to watch: 1. Blood Diamond 2. Eragorn 3. Spidey 3! If only cinema tickets in London don't cost as much as they do. Emailed A about something that's been bugging me lately; and I'm glad I managed to get things off my chest and I'm glad you're there for me babe. I miss you and can't wait to see you! Have a good week ahead y'alls! xoxoxo Friday, November 17, 2006Thank god its the weekend! The very dreaded lecture with the engineering students' nightmare really didnt go as bad as I thought it would. I think we've just been psyching ourselves out, plus I'm sure he took pity on the poor, clueless geologists lol =) We even finished 15 minutes early!! So yeah, hope it'll be a good weekend for everyone, personally, I'm hoping for a relaxing staying in kinda weekend with my junk food and my dvds. Plus, 3 back to back CSI episodes tonight yes! =)P's on the train and I shall soon be off to get some greasy chicken for dinner =) I used to have loads of greasy southern fried chicken at leeds but here, there just isn't anywhere convenient to get chicken from! So Chicken Spot near Paddington it is, only on special occasions lol! Have a good one y'alls! xoxoox Thursday, November 16, 2006Rant time:The class is getting slightly cheesed off with engineers who come into *our* room, locks *our* computers and pisses off to god-knows-wherefor the rest of the day! And to top it off, the 2 computers next to me have been locked by the same loser! First of all, she won't be back til 5 later cause we all have classes from 2-5 so she's effectively locked it for the whole day! And it's not like they don't have their own computer room downstairs! *grr* I appreciate they have work to do, and tons of it too, but it's not like they don't have their own facilities to work in! Sure, there may not be enough computers down there, but not everyone works in uni!! And fine, if everyone did suddenly decide to work in uni, *then* come up and use the computers, fine. But not when it's the middle of the day when the geologists need the computers and you're not going to be using the computers anyways. And why, for f's sake would you lock 2 under your username?! That's just being plain rude. Dumbasses. Disclaimer: This is not to say that I dislike engineers in fact most of them are very nice people =D However just a few of them may need a slap on the head =P xxx Monday, November 13, 2006![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
Sunday, November 12, 2006So as I mentioned in an earlier post, I went to the IceBsr on Friday and the BSU raya celebration yesterday..And here's what I thought:Ice Bar Now first of all bear in mind it was a 15 pound entry for a 45 minute slot in the bar right. Our slot was booked for 845 and I got there with P at about 840, gave my name to the bouncer and waited for the rest of the group. They finally appeared at about 9 after having gotten lost several times from the tube station. Even after I made sure they knew how to get there! So we still had to pay the same amount to get in but only stayed for half the time. But when we got in there, I don't think I could've stayed more than 20 minutes anyway, specially not with the footwear I had on! Silly little me just had to put on a pair of strappy sandals that night and my tootsies were freezing the second I got in! Inside, it was amazing! Everything was made of ice, the seats, the bar, the tables, the glasses too! And there were various ice sculptures dotted around the place to take photos with too...The place was smaller than I had imagined but I suppose the bigger it is the more expensive it is to run and the higher the entrance fee? All in all definitely worth a visit when you're in the area, once in a lifetime saja kli ah! =) On with the BSU's Raya Celebration I was quite disappointed by the whole thing, generally. And I was definitely not the only one disappointed, quite a few of my friends were as well. First of all, the seating arrangement was a bit awkward; the way it was arranged, anyone sitting more than 5 rows from the front couldn't see anything that was happening on stage. Personally I'd have thought it'd have been better if they had put tables in the area and have people sitting around tables instead of in rows. But that's probably because the number of people didn't allow them to organise the seating that way. Which brings me to my next point. Although we were told that there were only 300 tickets sold for the day, there was easily 400 people in the hotel yesterday. Which meant that there was insufficient food for all the guests, I suppose the first couple of hundred got all the dishes, which I was told included salmon and beef, but the rest of the crowd only got rice and chicken. And after that food just ran out completely, including the starters and the desserts. Now I don't think it's fair that people have paid the entrance fee, not to mention their train tickets to get to London, just to go hungry on the day. If they only had 300 tickets to sell, then keep the numbers to 300; if people are disappointed they couldn't get in then, well, its called first come first served for a reason isn't it...And as a friend said, it's far better to fully impress 300 people during the event rather than to impress 300 and have others be disappointed. There were also a couple of good performances yesterday, one of them being this guitarist with an amazing voice, and guitar playing skills. There was quite a random play going on at one point, but since noone could really see what was going on, noone could tell me what it was about. Didn't help that the actors were all sitting on the floor throughout the whole thing. Good points was that at least I managed to meet lots of my friends; from Leeds and from all around the country. Met Mel, Noor and co. and we left the event not long after the 2nd half, in search of food. I fully appreciate that such an event is very difficult to organise so well done to the organisers for managing to set it up; just some things needed to be finetuned... Hmm back to uni tomorrow, weekends go by so quickly =( Will post pictures up tomorrow when I get to uni and better internet connection xoxoxo Thursday, November 09, 2006It annoys me when lecturers rush to finish their materials and end up lecturing for a full 2hrs before giving us a break! Don't they realise the average human being only has a concentration span of about 40 min to an hour, tops??I need a reading week *so* badly! I used to get a week off halfway thru the first term at Leeds so we could catch up on our readings, but apparently MSc students don't need them. I. Need. One. Too much reading too little time Might be going late night shopping with a friend later, the hunt for a nice winter coat begins now! =) Can't wait for the weekend, there's the Russel Square raya thing to look forward to, but before that, will be paying a visit to this place tomorrow night, does it not look very cool? Pun intended lol! Much love! xoxox Monday, November 06, 2006![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
Unbelivable. I got up early and dragged my sorry ass to school only to find out that there was no morning classes! =/Should I go back and wait til my next class at 2 or should I just bum around in uni til then? 5 hours hmmm... How annoying! Look out for pics from last weekend on the next post! xoxoxo Sunday, November 05, 2006Quick update of the week/weekend:Week was spent studying Petrophysics, and both lecturers I had for this module were rubbish! Most of the time we were frantically trying to understand the guy or trying to get the notes off the slides as quick as we could since we weren't even provided any handouts to annotate. Friday - Went out with the coursemates (finally!) to Sound in Leicester Square. My first time out in London and my god was it pricy! In Leeds I never had to pay more than 5 pounds for entry into any club, even the posh ones. Here, entry was 5 for the ladies and 10 for the men, so to be fair, we split the cost evenly, coming to about 6 per person. Even drinks were more expensive than usual, a bottle of water (obviously they didn't serve tapwater) was about 2 quid, and a small glass of coke about 3 pounds! Madness! Sound played pretty good music and quite a few people off my course came out which was cool. The men were dodgy though, either I haven't been out in a while or the men in Sound that night were just extra dodgy? Lol. Saturday - Decided to go down to Soton to attend an open house there. Was really good, was kinda nervous at first cause I'm not very familiar with the other Soton-ers but the guys there definitely put me at ease...Went back the same evening cause had a dinner date with Mel and co (Can't wait to see you guys again next weekend!) P couldnt make it cause he wasn't feeling too hot, so got him some chicken rice from a Malaysian restaurant nearby. When I got there, the waiter said I could have any drink I wanted, on the house! Bless him got 2 teh tariks =) Stayed up late to catch this show, Playdate. Let's just say it wasn't the classiest thing I've ever seen. In fact, it was probably the chavviest thing I've seen in a while. Won't tell you guys why I stayed up for it but hmmm..pedah lah, buduh punya show. Sunday - Very relaxed, got up late, played some Pro Evo, and finally left the house at about 4 to go to Leicester Square for some bubble tea and mango pudding, which I've been craving for a while now...Now back home watching X Factor.. Definitely a much needed weekend to make up for last week and to prep my mind for next week..Hope you guys had a good one too xoxoxox Friday, November 03, 2006Me want HimMost of the concerts are on weekdays though and the days he's in London I'll be away doing my project!! =( ..Oh and the added fact that I am completely, utterly, totally, fully (and all other synonyms) broke =( Have a good weekend everyone! xoxoxox Wednesday, November 01, 2006My Eid began and ended last Saturday with C and A's visit lol. Finally got to wear my baju kurung, for an open house we visited for about...30 minutes? Heh jangan inda saja tu.. Rest of the weekend spent pigging out, gaming, bitching, movie-ing. Definitely made up for the crappy week I had. Also, P came over a day early and surprised me, cause he thought I needed the cheering up =)Sunday was spent going around to various charity and vintage shops in the Notting Hill area. Wanted to look for the bookshop that was featured in the Notting Hill film, but had no clue where to start looking!!The week's so far been..ok. Started a new module; finished the new module lol...Looking forward for the weekend; I need a good night out painting the town red! Lol! Happy November everyone xoxoxo |
