 Thursday, December 29, 2005Hey guys!! =DJust a quick post from our hostel lobby..I'm *loving* it here!! Ok granted, the flight over a little bit shitty, due to the old woman in front of me who had her seat so far back she was practically lying on my lap, and her continuous make-out sessions with her bf (ick), but it was all worth it when I got here! It's SO good to see the others again..At first it felt really surreal being in NYC but I think it's slowly sunk in hehe... Accommodations're alright, big rooms, shared toilets and bunk beds. But then again we're (almost) all geologists/geophysicists, so its not anything we're not used to =D Been doing the usual touristy stuff since I got here, Times Square, Empire State Building, Rockefeller Centre, Statue of Liberty, etc etc. The queues to get into Empire State were unbelievable!! We literally queued for 5 hours (even with advance bought tickets) and we spent about....30-45 minutes at the top?? Man.. talk about aching feet... XMas here was a pretty quiet affair, we were all pretty tired and jet-lagged so we just walked about, and had a *major* XMas dinner at a restaurant on Broadway...we were having so much fun, just chatting, catching up, eating, drinking =) Total dinner bill at the end? US$700!! Lol!! Never ever have I ever seen that much of a bill for *one* meal..Well worth it though, the food was amazing =D Just came back from shopping with the boys.. the others wanted to visit the Guggenheim, but I wasnt too keen so I dragged the guys to SoHo for some major duty spending =D Only spent about 2 hrs or so shopping, but my balance has definitely suffered.. haven't even shopped on 5th Avenue yet!! =S I still need to get some gifts and souveniers and maybe a bag or two for myself? =D Anyways, I'm off to dinner now, check you guys out later with pics and more stories!! Post a Comment Thursday, December 22, 20052 more days to NYC!!! *bounces* Been having a good coupla days, went to watch Kong yday and it was goooooood =D I cried *so* much at the end, for some reason, I envisioned a different ending *naive* =P What can I say, I love animals heh =P Went shopping yday, but didnt get anything really.. just exchanged a dress I got last week for a skirt, cause the dress didnt match my shoes =( *bimbo* lol..Started sorting my clothes out to bring to NY but haven't really packed yet, its apparently meant to be really really cold so I've packed all my sweaters and fleeces and even my field trip thermals! I will go there prepared for all possibilities =D Oh yeah, I've been in a much better mood compared to early in the week, had a meeting with the superV on wednesday and although I was shitting myself beforehand cause I was so sure he was gonna go mental on me, it actually went pretty well. I sort of understand what's going on now, and that meeting's helped a lot.. So i was definitely a happy bunny =D Been listening to Brustu radio loadsss since it started, I dont even play any of my own songs anymore lol.. It's been going really well actually.. a lot of the BruStuers are DJ-ing and they're all *really* professional sounding! I would've so screwed it up lol...tongue tied much? =P Anyways ladies and gents, off to uni now with P, to meet up with M. Gonna spend a couple of quality hours in the library, doing some work...Might not post til after Christmas and New Yr, will be down South for a coupla days after NYC, so til then.... Wanna work on my maps before showing it to my tutor tomorrow but I cant find my blue mapping pen!! Not been having a good coupla days, cried my eyes out last night and this morning,Work sucks. I feel shit. Thursday, December 15, 2005I'm in *such* a loved-up mood right now! Just finished watching "The Wedding Date" with the housemates and it was a really good film =D Very, very schweet and romantic...and omg, how come I've never noticed how HOT Dermot Mulroney is?? That body, that voice.... *swoons* lol! Me and the girls were squealing like anything at the sweet scenes (and there were quite a few!) lol...First week of Xmas break now, and nothing much's been happening really.. Been trying to work and I've been in the library a coupla times...its really really really annoying having to work when *noone* else in the house is working, and most people're home for Xmas and having fun, and us pathetic geologists are stuck in the library =/ really demotivates me, I tell ya...Bleh =/ Been getting more sleep though, so that's all good..No more panda eyes and eyebags for me, thankyouverymuch =D Haven't really been working that hard to be honest, the weekend after term ended I went off to London to catch Woman In Black, except that it didnt really..uh...happen? I somehow got ill on the day, threw up on the train, threw up in BH, got a fever, and was generally very out of it and being very woozy....But right, I actually managed to get to Covent Garden about 15 minutes before the play, got out of the tube and realised I didnt take the tickets with me! D'oh! =/ Wasn't too bothered really, I just really really wanted to get into bed at that point. Apparently I missed out though, the show was super good, and they had a great dinner after too! =( Ah well, there's always next time =D P was taking care of me the whole time bless him, getting me Ibuprofen and fruits and water and generally keeping me company...got a LOT better on Sunday (maybe it was a 24 hour bug?) and had a teeny dinner thing at ours with the coursemates...The weekend was a bit of a blur really lol.. for more reasons than being ill ;o) Ooh ooh have I mentioned that I got a Sea Monkeys set for my Xmas gift??? =D =D They're basically brine shrimp and you get an aquarium, Water Purifier, Sea Monkey eggs and Sea Monkey food in a pack and they come to life instantly and they're guaranteed to live for 2 years!! They're the coolest things ever lol...When they hatch, the about the size of the fullstop at the end of this sentence. Now they're *huuuuge*!! Well..not really, but huger than before lah lol =D I is excited about them, can y'all tell?? =D P's gonna take care of them when I'm in NYC, I hope to have baby Sea Monkeys by then =D Speaking of NYC, I'm leaving in about...a week?? Oh my lord in 9 days I need to have sorted out most of dissertation work, not to mention exam stuff!! Again, I say, I hate my January deadline..Why do we have to hand ours in about 3 months earlier than anyone else in the whole uni??? =( Watched FlightPlan a coupla days ago, and it kinda disappointed me...I thought the twist built up too slowly and it could've been done a LOT better...good acting on Jodie Foster's part, but a crap storyline...I wanna watch Narnia and Kong next! =D Right, lads and lasses, gonna read some journals before I go off to dreamland, such interesting bedtime reading material I have lol =P Nighty night!! xoxoxo Oh yeah, the taggy is finally fixed, had to get a new one..so start tagging me ppl! =D Neez - OooOoOoo you coming to Leeds?? The tutorial brought into focus just hoe much work I actually need to do still and I'm *so* scared I wont be able to do it on time =( I've calculated how many days I have left to work on it and I have just about 4 weeks left!!! And on top of that I have exams to prepare for, with an exam on the day of my dissertation handin *faints*I realllllly dont think I can afford to take the time out for NYC now =( But tickets're booked and I wanna see the others as well. But somehow.. I'm gonna hate myself if I mess this up =S Will probbaly take work with me actually. I know thats really pathetic but I dont want to lose anymore worktime than I already have. You'd think by 3rd year I'd be well sorted in time management and stuff like that, but noooo...Still panicking every exam period and assignment deadline. Last day of term tomorrow but I'm not really gonna have a break except over the weekend, will be in London to catch a play. I've still got an assignment in tomorrow and a presentation in the morning. Will be back in the library on Monday, will probably camp out there til it closes for Xmas =/ The puddle's coming to stay too, so he'll be a port of calm for me, hopefully. Its gonna be a stressful month and someone's gotta be there to take the bitching and tantrums and lord knows what else I'll be dishing out. Its unhealthy to work 24/7. xoxo Post a Comment Monday, December 05, 2005*sigh* Yet another week full of work stresses and assignments =/ Hope everyone's had a good weekend? Mine went by in a flash, Did work every single day during the weekend! That's gotta be illegal right? had to wake up at about 8 am on Saturday morning cause coursemates were coming round for groupwork and went to the library on Sunday (day of rest my foot!) to work on my presentation for Friday! All this and I haven't managed to do any dissertation work!! =( I'm a very tired, panda-eyed. cranky bunny =PThats not to say the weekend didnt have its hightlights tho heheh.. firstly, the puddle was over to visit so yay! Saturday night went to Evo for the 1st time ever and had a great time! Went to the German XMas market yday and rode on the ferris wheel too =D Oh oh oh my room looks SO Christmassy now!! I've got tinsel, fairy lights and a huge lighted star up above my bed!! All courtesy of the puddle, bless him, was having a bad day at uni and was whinging abt it nonstop at him, so he decorated my room to make me feel better =) Walked into my room and it was all prettied up =) =) So if anyone wants to visit a mini Santa's Grotto this year, y'all know where to find me lol!! Something quite freaky happened in Evo though, we went in a huge group, and somehow we managed to lose one of my housemate's friends in the huge club =S Found her a coupla hours later, completely out of it and falling asleep in a corner =S Cause another housemate's had her drink spiked while she was at Evo, everyone automatically assumed the worst =S She came round when she was back at ours though, so we think it was just a case of a lightweight drinking too much, too quickly? Well, it just hit us pretty hard how easy it is to have a drink spiked =S Coupla things to look forward to this week though : XMas dinner this Tuesday Woman in Black in London this weekend End of term!!! And you just broke the code of conduct. That's illegal woman. Stop it! Lol! Ahwww Puddle is a sweetie :) But don't tell him I said that, his head won't fit through the door otherwise hehe. The bit about the drink being spiked was scary, that's why I always refuse men buying drinks for me (or women you never know :p) and i always finish it in one gulp so I dont have to look after it. Geez spiked drinks = Hollyoaks rerun. xoxo Post a Comment Thursday, December 01, 2005Just passing time at A's while I wait for the puddle to arrive at uni, then I go pick him up heheh =D Would've picked him up fromtrain station but its wet and miserable outside; my jeans are soaked and I dont wanna ruin my freshly washed hair *bimbo* lol! He knows his way around Leeds well enough by now anyways =PMy work load's just been increased!! Bad enough I've got 2 assignments due next Friday, and at least 2 draft handins of separate chapters of my dissertation, I now also have a team exercise due in for Wednesday!! *cries* And to make it worse, my partner for the assignment's going on vacation to Egypt this Sunday so we have to rush and get everything sorted over this weekend. =( =( I just wish I could make an hour last a day, just once and I can enjoy having a day off from doing anything =/ Presentation lagi tu on Wednesday...aiyo.. noone ever warned me that final year was *this* bad! Had a surprise bday party for A last night (organised by C), and we all dressed up as comic book characters!! It was well cool, everyone in the house dressed up. C went as MJ Watson from Spiderman, we also had GI Jane, CatWoman, Little Red Riding Hood, a policewoman, a Sin City hooker, and yours truly went as SuperGirl!! Lol... Have some great pics to post up later =) Need to do some project work tonight and tomorrow am in uni from 11 til god knows when trying to sort out my group work. Lord knows when I'll have time to do my computer modelling assignment... Sigh...Ah well gonna go meet the puddle now, have a great (early?) weekend everyone!!
